Program
Day 1: City of origin – Madrid
We start in Madrid where a guide will pick up the group (at the airport or relevant train station).
Check in at the hotel
Guided walking tour of the Madrid of Hemingway. The American writer, who visited and lived in the capital on several occasions, was inspired by its taverns and streets to acclimate several of his novels.
The tour will go through such emblematic places as the Palace Hotel, the Chicote Museum, the Cervecería Alemana or Matadero, where “Don Ernesto” spent many mornings visiting the young bulls.
The tour will end with a dinner at one of the restaurants most visited by the author: The Booty’s nephew

Day 3: Pamplona

Your guide will pick you up for a walking tour of Hemingway´s Pamplona, a city he visited 9 times and where he first came to the San Fermines. You will visit the center, the Plaza del Castillo, the walls and the Cathedral.

Day 4: Pamplona Irati-Pirinees
Breakfast at the hotel
Departure for Burgete, Roncesvalles and the Irati Forest, always with our local guide. “Paradise would be a brook with trout in which I was the only one authorized to fish” that’s what the author wrote about the area.

Day 5: Roncesvalles- San Sebastián
Breakfast at the hotel
Departure by private bus to San Sebastián
Guided tour of San Sebastian by a local guide. We will visit the Concha, the casco viejo and the narrow streets of the center, The tour will end with pintxos tasting.
In the afternoon we will visit Hendaia, where Hemingway finished writing “Fiesta”. Ernest visited the city several times with his different wives and sometimes other personalities such as Orson Welles.

Day 6: San Sebastían- Basque Coast -Bilbao
Breakfast at the hotel
Bus tour of the Basque coast that will visit fishing villages such as Zumaia or Elantxobe. The bay of Txingudi was a refuge for the writer where he met other artists like Ignacio Zuluaga, with whom he undertook a lasting friendship.

Day 7: Bilbao-Gernika-Vitoria
Breakfast at the hotel
Guided tour of Bilbao by Hemingway who wrote “It is a rich, big, solid city, of great athletes and good friends”. Hemingway shared the city with artists such as Lauren Bacall, Ava Gardner, Juan Duñabeitia or Jose María Duñabeitia.

In the afternoon the bus will take you to Gernika, where there will be a guided tour that will touch the history of the end of the Second Republic and the Civil War.

Day 8: Vitoria – Madrid – City of origin

Guided tour of the city that Hemingway visited in 1959. We will visit the old town including the Cathedral, the Fuournier Museum and the Food Market.
