Day 3: Barcelona-Valencia, Half day city tour

The historic centre is one of the largest in Spain, with approximately 169 acres; this heritage of ancient monuments, views and cultural attractions makes Valencia one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations. Major monuments include Valencia Cathedral, the Torres de Serranos, the Torres de Quart, the Llotja de la Seda (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996).

Day 4: Valencia-Granada, Half day city tour

Possibiity to visit the famous “Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias” (City of the arts and sciences) – entrance fees to the interior not included. The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia is a unique complex devoted to scientific and cultural dissemination which is made up of five main elements: the Hemisfèric (IMAX cinema and digital projections), the Umbracle (a landscaped vantage point and car park), the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum (an innovative centre of interactive science), the Oceanográfico (the largest aquarium in Europe with over 500 marine species) and the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (which takes care of the operatic programme). The Ágora gives the complex a multifunctional space.

Day 5: Granada, Visit Alhambra

Entrance Alhambra – Human Heritage by UNESCO.
Itinerary starts in La Alcazaba, the oldest buildings, then the Nazaries Palaces and finally the Generalife gardens and summer palace.The Alhambra’s Islamic palaces were built for the last Muslim emirs in Spain and its court of the Nasrid dynasty. After the Reyes Católicos (“Catholic Monarchs”) took control in 1492, some portions were used by Christian rulers. The Palace of Charles V, built by Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor in 1527, was inserted in the Alhambra within the Nasrid fortifications. The Alhambra is now one of Spain’s major tourist attractions, exhibiting the country’s most significant and well known Arab-Islamic architecture, together with 16th-century and later Christian building and garden interventions. The Alhambra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the inspiration for many songs and stories.

Day 6: Granada-Cordoba-Sevilla, Half day city tour & Mosque

Departure towards Cordoba (200 km / 2,5 h).
Arrival to Cordoba and visit the famous Mosque of Cordoba.
The Great Mosque -Aljama- of Cordoba, built during the period of Moorish occupation, is the most splendid Islamic monument in the western world. Its construction commenced in 785, when Abd-ar-Rahman established Cordoba as capital of al-Andalus, on the site of an ancient church dedicated to San Vicente and was extended during successive periods by Abd-ar-Rahman II, Al-Hakam II and Almanzor.

Day 7: Sevilla-Madrid, Half day city tour
Breakfast at the hotel.
Then we will start our tour in Seville, discovering the emblematic monuments of Seville and visiting: Its Old Town is one of the three largest in Europe along with Venice and Genoa (covering almost four square kilometers), which includes three UNESCO World Heritage Sites (the Alcázar palace complex, the Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies).

Panoramic visit of Madrid admiring the most important buildings, avenues and squares and explaining about the monuments and it’s history: Gran Vía, Plaza de España, University, Moncloa, Habsburg old quarter, calle Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Puerta de Alcalá, the bull ring, Columbus square, paseo de la Castellana and the Real Madrid Stadium Santiago Bernabéu, Plaza Castilla, fountain of Cibeles.

Day 9: Madrid Excursion El Escorial & Outlet Shopping

The Royal Monastery of El Escorial is an imposing 16th Century building. Phillip II ordered its construction and its main architect was Juan Herrera to whom it owed most of its design and building. Many of the best artisans of that period also took part in the process. The Monastery also houses the Mausoleum of the Spanish Monarchs, and it is considered as one of the Eight Wonders of the World.
