Program
Day 1: Arrive in Berlin at night time
Day 2: Historical and neo-classical
Morning and afternoon: visit to the Monumental Centre: Brandenburg Gate (Langhans), monument of the Holocaust (Peter Eisenman), Unter den Linden, Gendarmenmarkt (Unger) with the Konzerthaus (Schinkel), Humboldt University, new guard house (Schinkel), Island museum: visit the Pergamon museum with architectural pieces of great historical value (Greece and Babylon) like the Pergamon Altar, the market of Miletus and Isthar doors, the Old Museum (Altesmuseum/Schinkel) and the New museum (reconstruction of Chipperfield bust of Nefertiti). Lunch in the area of nter den Linden and dinner in the Hackescher market.
Day 3: Potsdam
Morning and evening: Postdam: Sansoucci Palace (Knobelsdorff), Chalottenhof (Schinkel and Buring), historical centre (Church of St Nicholas, old market and the Dutch neighbourhood), Cecilienhof Palace (Tudor style, headquarters of the Potsdam conference) and Babelsberg (Einstein/ Mendelsohn tower) lunch in the old market/ Dutch quarter. Return to Wannsee: Villa Marlier (Headquarters of the Wannsee Conference).
Day 4: Regeneration of the Berlin wall, Karl Marx Allee
Morning: Visit to the Forum of cultures: Potsdammer Platz (Rogers, Helmut Jahn, Renzo Piano), building of the Bauhaus archives (Gropius posthumous), Berlin philharmonic, national library (Hans Scharoun) and the new National Gallery (Miles Van der Rohe). Lunch in Kreuzberg.
Afternoon: Kreuzberg, the ´Berlin IBA´ area and Jewish Museum (Liebeskind), Friedrischain, Karl Marx Allee to Alexander Platz. Dinner in Prenzlauer Berg.
Day 5: Hansa Viertel, Unité d’habitation, Olympic Stadium
Morning: Hansa Viertel (buildings of Taut, Gropius, Niemeyer, Alvar Aalto, Jacobsen), Kurtfurstendamm and Siedlung Woga (Mendelsohn). Lunch by the Savigny Platz
Afternoon: Unité d’habitation of Le Corbusier and Olympic Stadium (Werner March, rehabilitation Von Gerkan). The rest of the afternoon free.
Day 6: Berlin Capital
Morning: Reichstag (Foster), Embassy of Mexico (Teodoro González de León) and the Nordic countries (Berger and Parkinen), Embassy of Spain (brothers Krüger and Pedro Muguruza). Lunch by the Zoologischer Garten
Afternoon: Landwehrkanal, Embassy of the Netherlands (Koolhaas) and a visit to the urban network of courtyards of Apple, Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg. Dinner by Prenzlauer Berg.
Day 7: Siedlungen, Tempelhof
Morning: Visit to the Siedlung Siemmenstadt (Gropius, Häring), AEG turbine factory in Moabit (Behrens), Siedlung Britz (Taut, Wagner), Berlin-Tempelhof airport. Lunch by the Bergmann Strasse
Afternoon: Departure to the airport.
