The State Hall, the heart of the Austrian National Library, is one of the most beautiful library halls in the world. It is the biggest Baroque library in Europe.

Though Mozart lived at a dozen different addresses in Vienna, the only apartment that has survived to this day is at Domgasse number 5. The composer lived at this address from 1784 till 1787.

Majestically gracing the Ring Boulevard, the Vienna State Opera is indisputably one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. Built in 1869 to plans by architects August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll, and reopened in 1955 following devastation in World War II, it offers its international audiences top-caliber music theater on some 300 days a year.

The Wiener Musikverein, commonly shortened to Musikverein, is a concert hall in the Innere Stadt borough of Vienna, Austria. It is the home of the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. The “Great Hall” (Großer Saal), due to its highly regarded acoustics, is considered one of the finest concert halls in the world, along with Berlin’s Konzerthaus, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Boston’s Symphony Hall.

In 1897, Gustav Klimt and a number of other artists quit the conservative Künstlerhaus and founded a new art association called the Secession. The building of the same name was completed in 1898.

Haydn’s domicile in Vienna for 12 years. Haydn bought the ground-level Vienna suburban house in Kleine Steingasse 73 (today Haydngasse 19, very close to the lively shopping mile Mariahilfer Strasse) in 1793 and had it renovated, adding another floor. Here, the bulk of his late work was composed, among them the great oratorios “The Creation” and “The Seasons.”
